Orange InformationLocated in the north-central Piedmont region, Orange is bounded by Culpeper, Louisa, Spotsylvania, Albemarle, Greene and Madison counties. Orange is the birthplace of Zachary Taylor, the 20th President of the United States (Montebello near Barboursville). It is also the lifelong home of James Madison (Montpelier), "Father of the Constitution", sponsor of the Bill of Rights and the 4th President of the United States. St. Thomas Episcopal Church was where Robert E. Lee worshiped during his encampment in Orange during the winter of 1863-1864. The Wilderness Battlefield is where Lee and Grant clashed for the first time on May 5-6 1864. Orange county has two incorporated towns: Orange and Gordonsville.
